1. Fitness First

Membership Fees

Fitness First’s gym membership fees range from S$175 to S$245, depending on the type of plan you subscribe for.

If you go for the 18 month membership, then you’ll get to enjoy the lowest rate of S$175 per month. You also get to enjoy a reduced rate of S$185 if you sign up for the 12 month gym contract.

On the other hand, if you decide to subscribe for the more flexible 1-month membership plan, you would have to pay S$245 a month.

In any case, all the gym membership plans entitle you to access to all the Fitness First clubs across Singapore. Thus, you can workout almost wherever you want, especially if there are Fitness First outlets near your house and your workplace.

Locations

As Fitness First is a huge gym chain, it has many locations in Singapore.

In fact, Fitness First currently has a total of 20 clubs, located in areas including Clementi, Mapletree Business City, Bugis Junction, One Raffles Quay, Paya Lebar and Westgate.

Opening Hours

On weekdays, Fitness First gyms generally open as early as 6 a.m. in the morning and close as late as 11 p.m.

While the hours are a little shorter on weekends (from 7 a.m. to 9.pm.), you should still be able to find a convenient slot for you to work out.

On public holidays, the opening hours of the Fitness First Gym are generally from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

However, you should check the exact opening hours with the gym branch you wish to go to as there may be differences to the opening hours between outlets.

Range of Facilities and Perks

Not only do they have a wide range of gym equipment, some Fitness First gyms also have boxing areas and swimming pools to allow for a more diverse workout session. Furthermore, some of the branches have steam rooms for you to relax in after your intense workout.

You are provided with workout attire, a bath towel and complimentary toiletries. This means that you can simply walk in any attire wearing your running shoes and you can begin your workout.

This is especially convenient for working adults who wish to squeeze in a workout on a work day but don’t want the hassle of bringing their sports attire and showering necessities.

2. True Fitness

Membership Fees

True Fitness advertises itself as having low membership fees, with rates reaching as low as S$55 per month. Given the amount of gym equipment and facilities that True Fitness has, doesn’t those low rates sound a bit too good to be true?

Well, there is actually an upfront “start-up fee” of S$900 that you need to pay for this two year True Fitness plan. Therefore, if you actually average out the total costs you incur, you would effectively be paying approximately S$92.50 per month for a two year period.

However, one good thing about this plan from True Fitness is that you’ll get to use all the branches of True Fitness and not just one particular one.

If you instead opt for the one year gym membership with True Fitness, you would either pay S$118 per month (for access to one gym location) or S$133 per month (for all fitness centres).

Nonetheless, please be aware of the hidden costs.

True Fitness, like other gyms, have fees such as joining fees and processing fees that may amount up to a few hundred dollars. Thus, it is important to clarify what all the costs are before deciding to purchase the gym membership.

In most cases, these fees can be waived with some negotiation with the sales staff.
